Good oral hygiene is fundamental to oral health and the maintenance of your teeth and gums. We recommend six monthly examinations to help maintain your mouth.

Brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste is very important to remove harmful plaque containing bacteria which can lead to gum disease, gingivitis & dental decay.

Flossing

This is very important to clean between your teeth.

How to use floss:
– Take 30-40cm of floss
– Wrap it around your fingers until you have a 2cm section
– Put the floss between your teeth
– Pull the floss taught around the tooth & move gently upwards & out from the space between the teeth.

Mouthwash

– It is recommended to use fluoride mouthwash twice a day after brushing. It is most effective if used 20 – 30 minutes after brushing

Interdental brushes

These brushes come in several sizes to suit the different sizes of gaps between teeth. You should always use the largest size that can fit in each space. This may mean that you need a couple of different sizes to get the most effective cleaning.

-Interdental brushes should be used once a day
-There is no need to use toothpaste on the brushes
-Like your toothbrush, these interdental brushes can be used until the bristles become worn

Your dentist will advise you of the correct size or sizes of brushes which are suitable for you.
